I’m auctioning a car online, and since the lead picture is the most important factor that draws in people picking the right one is essential. I’d like some feedback. Which picture should represent my car? Car: 1989 BMW E30 320i Touring. * Poll added *

For those who care: I’m hoping for the equivalent of $4500. I’ve left the interior and engine pictures out as they’re not appropriate first pictures. I’ll add the auction text in reply. I met the word limit with zero words left.

My auction text. If you’ve got suggestions, please let me know. There’s a word limit, and this text meets this word limit exactly with zero words left. I wrote the Dutch and English versions, the auction house will translate it to German and French as well.

Title : BMW 320i Touring E30 - 1989

Subtitle : Unmolested youngtimer with straight six engine. Many new parts.

Plain text : 1989 BMW E30 Touring in original and nice shape. Straight six engine. An early and relatively rare Touring (wagon) version of the most legendary BMW 3-series generation, the E30. A 1980s icon, known for its marvellous driving dynamics. The E30 used to be common but seems to have gone almost extinct nowadays. Due to its popularity the value of E30s is rising, especially the six cylinder and M3 versions.

This BMW is in a mechanically great shape and has received a lot of recent maintenance. This has resulted in car that drives great with a very well running engine.

New: Rear brakes (discs/pads/lines!), radiator, muffler and engine oil (+filter)
About 5000km old: Timing belt (+pulleys), four tires, front brakes, tie rods+ends, front springs, rear shocks and spark plugs
A bit older but in great condition: Wheel bearings, ball joints, rear tie rods, front springs, front shocks.

Imperfections:
While not visible on the outside, there’s rust on the bottom of the front doors+hatch. No significant rust elsewhere. Headliner not pretty. Paint above rear wheels a bit dull. 291k kilometers. Normal signs of usage for a 26 year old car, see pictures.

German papers, valid inspection until 4-2016. Will aid with export.

I picked 13. For some reason, though, my brain wants the car to be pointing left-to-right at that angle. I think it makes it look more moving in some way, probably because English reads left-to-right.

This is it:

Kinja'd!!!

Followed by:

Title: Come ye faithful, gather round the Grail

Subtitle: BMW E30 manual Wagon. BMW E30 MANUAL WAGON. BMW E30 MANUAL WAGON.

Guaranteed views, right there.

Really though, I think 14 is the best choice.

In that case I vote 12.

I said 12, only because it shows another (yours?) BMW in the background, so that may make the maintenance record more appealing to other enthusiasts. 14 was my second choice if you think that my previous statement was complete shite.

Oh, I’ve included 40 pictures so far. However, you do need people to click your link, so I need the one picture that’s most likely to draw people in.

I’d say 14 or 17. Those are the best angles from the front and back, respectively (IMO). I’d lean to 17 because I think it is the more colourful/interesting picture.

It’s a hard decision to make. I like 9 quite a lot as well, I just wish the angle was slightly different. Too bad I don’t have the car close to me to make a few extra pictures.
